Centos 8 was launched on October 24, 2019 with many new features.

Centos is one of the most popular Linux distributions. Particularly used in the web hosting industry, the Centos 8 installation process is no different than the Centos 7 installation.

We are installing on Vmware virtualization system. You can download the iso file required for Centos 8 installation from this link. Select the mirror that suits you, download the installation file and mount it according to where you will install the iso.

After you mount Iso and start our server, the welcome screen will look like the following.

Click “Install CentOS Linux” button and start the installation.

Choose your language and click “Continue”.

Then, the screen where you configure the disk, keyboard options, network settings opens.

From the Destination Installation Destination ”partition, we will select the disk to be installed and create a partition.

Since we install on VDS, we install on a single disk. For partition process, we click “Automatic” button to create it automatically, “Done” button to skip the process.

Then we configure our network settings from Network & Host Name.

In the screen that will open, we will set the Ethernet to “On” and enter the ip settings with the “Configure” button. By entering our hostname, we click “Apply”.

In the IP settings section, we click the IPv4 Settings tab, configure our ip settings, then click “Save”.

If you are installing as a base, you must enter the repo address in the Source Installation Source ”section.

Select a repository URL and type in the address "http://mirror.centos.org/centos/8/BaseOS/x86_64/os/“ and click on “Done”.

Then select imal Minimal Install ından from “Software Selection” and click “Done” button.

Now we can start the installation by clicking the “Begin Installation” button.

As with previous versions and for security reasons, you need to set the root password.

After you set your root password, we click “Done ve button and after re-installation, click“ Reboot ”button to restart.

Centos 8 comes with a great new web panel interface!
